RE: The tariff classification of 2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester (CAS # 840-65-3) from Japan
Dear Mr. Chivini:
In your letter dated June 11, 1997, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The applicable subheading for 2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxylic acid dimethyl ester will be 2917.39.7000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for aromatic polycarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their derivatives: other: other: other: other. The rate of duty will be 16 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
